From the Collection:

This collection is composed primarily of correspondence, as well as budget records, photographs, press clippings, acquisition records, and departmental reports. The collection documents the activities of Director of the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum, Giles W. Mead from 1970-1978 and incldues correspondence regarding LACMA, China Lake excavations, exhibitions development, California state fossil selection, Hancock Park and La Brea museum planning, Old Woman Meteorite court proceedings, Proposition 13 (Jarvis-Gann Initiative), and Museum thefts.
